Magpie Estate ‘The Sack’ 2017, Barossa Valley, Australia (Shiraz) This £15 Barossa Valley Shiraz was hugely popular at our recent Old World v New World Virtual Tasting session – Deep purple, rich dark fruits and spice on the noise with a full bodied, smooth finish. (Only 8 Cases left). Pair with Steak.
Borsao Selección Tinto 2018, Spain (Garnacha) "Possibly the single greatest dry red wine value in the world, this is an unbelievable wine …" Robert Parker (Wine Advocate) Rich, plum and red berry fruit with a touch of spice on the nose. Balanced yet concentrated red fruit mingles with darker spice and chocolate characters to give weight and layers to the palate.. Great with white meats and dishes with a bit of spice – try with Chorizo or Merguez Sausages.
Helter Skelter 2018, California (Merlot) Old Vines produce better wines. This wine comes from a 50 year old Lodi vineyard in central California. Full of plummy fruits, smooth and finely textured. Try with Burgers or Spicy Ribs.
Pablo Y Walter 2019, Mendoza, Argentina (Malbec) Mendoza has become synonymous with Malbec – this is a great example from 25yr old vines. A really pure expression of Malbec, deep red almost purple in colour and wonderfully aromatic with lifted violet, red currant and cassis notes. Perfect with Steak.
Revenant 2017 Stellenbosch, S Africa (Cabernet Sauvignon) Packed full of vibrant red fruit in the glass such as red berries and blueberries, the wine shows hints of perfume and dark chocolate. It is gentle and elegant on the palate, with great balance to the very end of its long finish.. Great with Burgers.
Il Cascinone 'Soliti' 2018, Piemonte (Merlot)
Exceptional wine - Plum, blackberry and savoury spice characters on the nose. Full flavoured with layers of black fruit and toasty spice backed by firm, ripe tannins, dark chocolate notes and a fresh finish. Perfect on its own or try with Lamb Kebabs.
