Boutinot 'Les Coteaux' Cotes du Rhone Villages, France (Grenache/Syrah)
Exceptional wine - brambly fruit, smooth texture from the old vine fruit and subtle use of oak, rich and round with a hint of peppery spice.
False Bay 'Old School' 2019, S Africa (Syrah)
Wild yeast fermentation, low yields and ageing in large French oak foudre are what defines this savoury and appealing Syrah. Full yet elegant with bramble fruits and also some earth and meaty aromas. The palate is structured and elegant with fine tannins and a smooth finish.
Nieto Senetiner 2019, Mendoza, Argentina (Malbec)
Mid red, great value Argentian Malbec - black fruits, spice - great with steak!
Ontañón Rioja Crianza 2017, Spain (Tempranillo)
Great producer, great wine - looks, smells and tastes like rioja! In this juicy, approachable Crianza, Tempranillo is blended with a little Garnacha (10%) to add aroma and body to the wine. Bright ripe aromas of black fruit with hints of liquorice and mocha. Cherry and plum fruit on the palate with acidity and balancing tannins. A very approachable, modern and satisfying Crianza.
