GENETIE Bourgogne Blanc ‘Illuminé’, 2017, Burgundy, France (Chardonnay)
Fantastic quality, old-vine White Burgundy. Fine buttery and floral notes on the nose. Some creamy textural notes with and a hint of citrus zestiness
Tenuta Santa Seraffa Gavi di Gavi, 2018, Piemonte, Italy (Cortese)
Top quality Gavi from a single vineyard in the hills of Piemonte. Likened to Chablis in style you can see why - aromas of citrus and green apple combined with more complex hints of frangipane. The palate has apple and lemon characters, and an appealing weight and minerality. The finish is textural, long and defined.
Château Tirecul, ‘Ulma’ Blanc 2018, South West France (Semillon/Muscadelle/Chenin)
The blend might be a little eclectic but this is a very familiar style. It’s bright and fresh, dry and unoaked but with ‘stuffing’ and really delicious texture. A classy French white.
Montresor Valpolicella Ripasso ‘Capitel della Crosara’ 2016, Veneto, Italy (Corvina)
A warm, inviting, richly fruity nose, with aromas of fresh morello cherry, ripe plum and hints of dried fruits. The palate is similarly full-flavoured with concentrated, crunchy black cherry, brown spice and vanilla notes and a hint of liquorice
Laderas de Cabama Rioja 2014, Spain (Tempranillo)
A pure and elegant single vineyard Rioja. Hand harvested from Old Vine Temranillo grapes thisdark-fruited with balsamic notes, elegance and a lightness of touch. Smooth and mellow on the finish.
Clos Bagatelle a'L'Origine' 2018, Saint Chinian, France (Syrah/Grenache)
In the glass, the wine has a bright ruby colour with a fresh, herby, garrigue nose. A touch of liquorice is followed by full-flavoured and intense, typically southern flavours. Equal measures of Syrah, Carignan and Grenache and a dash of Mouvèdre provide youth, excellent balance and generous and gentle structure.
