We kicked off September with two 'Back to School' virtual Tastings (where school involved fun and tasting great wine!!)
First up was an "Old World Classics' tasting where we looked at Benchmark wines from France, Italy and Spain. The Alsace Gewurztraminer proved to be extremely popular but couldn't steal the show from the overwhelming Favourite Wine of the night - Massolino Barolo 2017.
Next up was a 'New World Upstarts' tasting - we tasted 4 wines from South Africa, Australia, Argentina and New Zealand. The complex, barrel fermented Semillon/Sauvignon blend from South Africa proved to be the favoured white wine on the night with the reds being a lot closer - two excellent New World Reds, an Argentinian Malbec and a New Zealand Pinot Noir.
To round things off I thought we would have a 'Taste Off!' - Old World v New World, Head to Head - How do they differ, which do you prefer? (or do you just like them all?!) 🤣
Whites - 2 Benchmark Sauvignon Blancs - one from Marlborough v one from the Loire Valley
Reds - 2 Grenache Based wines - a fantastic Old Vine Grenache from the Barossa Valley v a fantastic Chateauneuf du Pape
Join us on Friday and let the tasting begin!!
